We’re looking for an energetic, research-focused individual who wants to continue driving research, following the latest publications, and build some really cool tech. Most of what you’ll be doing will be something very few people have done, and you’ll be making many contributions back to the open-source community.

What you’ll need

• Usually a Bachelor’s degree, equivalent experience in CS, or working towards your advanced degree
• Self-motivated desire to solve complex problems.
• Great communication skills and a good attitude
• A research-driven mindset

What will really get our attention

• Exposure to compilers and interpreters
• Optimization, ML, artificial neural networks, and reinforcement learning
• Experience with data systems algorithms, graph algorithms, column stores, indexes, etc.
• other cool stuff

What you’ll work on

• Build an ultra-fast JSON serializer based on some of the recent papers on SIMD parsing
• Build a replicable RocksDB implementation
• Use ML to tune Apache Kafka
• Build a lightning-fast proxy using graph algorithms to traverse JSON trees and de-identify data (e.g. healthcare)
• Build a TCP socket-based client/server for our own database
